Overview
|
|
Reliance Bridge will assist the prospective foreign-trained Nursing professionals from India by assuming four primary responsibilities for those who wish to participate in this Project, namely:
1. Arrange for each client to secure gainful and desirable employment as a health care professional in an Ontario medical facility;
2. Secure for each client a Canadian work permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, which is valid for a minimum of one year and renewable on an annual basis;
3. Assist each client with respect to settlement arrangements in the particular Ontario community in which they are employed.
4. Handle all matters connected to obtaining temporary registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

The Process
|
|
While we genuinely hope that each and every client of ours will succeed in the Ontario health care sector, it should be noted that health care organizations across the country consistently strive to maintain standards of excellence in all fields of endeavour. Accordingly, an individual's success in the medical field will ultimately be determined by the overall range and level of abilities of each person concerned. Regarding foreign health care professionals, the following points are especially noteworthy.
Firstly, all nurses who are employed in the Province of Ontario must be registered with and accredited by the governing body of Ontario nurses, namely, the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). In this regard, please note that we will act to arrange for the initial, temporary (six months) CNO registration for each client.
However, each foreign nurse must write a qualifying examination for permanent registration with the CNO within six (6) months of obtaining temporary registration. This CNO qualifying examination is quite challenging for some candidates, especially those with relatively sub-standard formal educations and or those whose fluency in writing and reading English is below par.
A pass mark in the CNO qualifying exam allows one to both obtain permanent registration with the CNO and continue their employment in Ontario. A fail mark in the exam effectively terminates one's registration with the CNO and employment at an Ontario hospital. We would therefore strongly urge each client to take advantage of CNO exam preparatory courses and materials (which are here in Ontario) prior to writing the exam.

Secondly, it is absolutely crucial for all health careprofessionals operating within a given system to be able to effectively communicate with one another during the course of their day-to-day activities. As such, foreign workers in the nursing field hoping to have professional success here in Canada must achieve a satisfactory level of fluency in speaking English and understanding spoken English.
Indeed, registration with the CNO is dependent upon achieving pre-determined scores in the speaking and listening components of the TOEFL/ IELTS examination. All clients are therefore strongly urged to use their best efforts to bring their fluency in the English language to an acceptable level at the earliest possible time.
Thirdly, nurses with certain areas of expertise are in extraordinarily high demand in Ontario, and these nurses will be especially well positioned to obtain employment at Ontario hospitals.
The nursing positions which are in extraordinary demand are:
Operating room nurses; critical care nurses; emergency room nurses; intensive care nurses; burn unit nurses; neonatal care nurse; dialysis and haemodialysis nurses; high risk labour and delivery nurses; trauma and neuro-trauma nurses; oncology nurses.
In order to assist us in making an effective preliminary assessment of client's credentials, we would kindly ask clients to provide us with an updated, detailed resume which sets out full particulars regarding their education, work experience and fluency in the English language. Reference should also be made in the client's resume to their marital status and number of dependent children.
